Genesis 12:2 I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

Genesis 18:19 For I have chosen him, (Abraham) so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.

– The Covenant starts with the promise of a flourishing family. This emphasizes the importance of family in God’s plan, also we as Parent to direct our children in the ways of the Lord to do right and just, for families play a vital role in God’s redemptive story and in or society today.

Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse, and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you

Genesis 13:2 Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.

God’s covenant with Abraham extends beyond his immediate family to become a blessing to all nations. Families are called not only to receive God’s blessings but to be channels of blessing to others. So, as we the Covenant People Group.!!

Genesis 17:9-11 Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you.

Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.

Circumcision of the heart by the Spirit symbolizes the commitment to the Covenant.

Genesis 15:6 Abraham believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness

The covenant was not merely about following rules but was rooted in faith. Families are encouraged to imitate Abraham’s faith, recognizing that righteousness comes through trust in God. For without faith is impossible to please God.

Genesis 18:23-33 Then Abraham approached him and said: will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked

As you can see Abraham was interceding for his Family so we to Covenant People / Families we are Called to learn the power of prayer and intercession for our loved ones and society.
