Convenant Women

Covenant People Group

In the Bible, covenant women play significant roles in various stories and narratives. Covenant refers to a sacred agreement or promise made between God and His people. Here are a few notable women in the Bible associated with covenants:

Genesis 17 :15-16 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”

Sarah, the wife of Abraham, plays a crucial role in the Abrahamic covenant. God promises Abraham that he will be the father of many nations, and Sarah will be the mother of nations. This covenant is established through the birth of their son, Isaac.

Genesis 24 &25 – Rebekah, the wife of Isaac, is part of the covenant promise passed down from Abraham. She gives birth to twins, Esau and Jacob. The covenant blessing is passed on to Jacob, who later becomes Israel.

Genesis 29-30 – These two sisters are wives of Jacob and mothers of the twelve sons who eventually become the twelve tribes of Israel. The covenant continues through the descendants of Jacob.

Micah 6:4– Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron, played a significant role in the Exodus story. Although not directly associated with a covenant, she is a key figure in Israel’s history and played a role in the covenant relationship between God and the people.

1 Samuel 1-2 – Hannah, the mother of Samuel, dedicated her son to God, and he became a significant figure in the history of Israel as a prophet and judge. While not directly involved in a covenant, her story is integral to the transition from the period of judges to the establishment of the monarchy.

Luke 1:26-3 – Mary, the mother of Jesus, is involved in the New Covenant. In the New Testament, Jesus inaugurates a new covenant through His life, death, and resurrection. Mary’s role is central in giving birth to the Savior and being part of God’s plan for redemption.

These women, among others, played essential roles in the biblical narrative, contributing to the unfolding of God's covenant with His people. Their stories reflect the broader themes of faith, obedience, and God's faithfulness in fulfilling His promises.
